Amsoo Properties Reviews

Every resident who moves out fills out a short feedback form. We ask how they liked the house, what they thought of maintenance, what we should improve, and whether they’d recommend us to friends. Here’s what they said, word for word.

About these reviews: we started collecting written feedback at move-out at the end of 2024, and the “16 of 17” covers every response since. The one resident who wouldn’t recommend us pointed to a single housemate, so we’ve since added room transfers between our homes.

Why residents moved on

We also ask why people leave. Almost always, it’s a new chapter rather than a problem with the house.

  • Moving in with a partner or into a place of their own
  • An internship ending and heading back to school
  • Starting a new job in another city
  • Starting grad school (one resident left for Harvard)
  • Wanting a home that allows pets (ours don’t)
  • Finding a cheaper place or a better location for their next chapter

Interns move on too, sometimes with a full-time offer in hand. One Chapala resident left after a Cloudflare internship with a return offer and plans to be back in Austin.

What if housemates don’t get along?

Things come up, and not every house is a perfect fit for everyone. That’s true of any room you rent. One resident put it well: shared living works best for people who are used to sharing common spaces.

We don’t micromanage households, and we don’t live in the homes full-time. That’s one of the upsides of not renting from a live-in landlord. Housemates usually work small things out among themselves.

If something isn’t getting resolved, tell us. We’ll step in and make sure everyone in the house is holding up their end of being considerate to the people they live with.

Room transfers. Because we have several homes in Austin and Manor, residents on a lease of 6 months or longer can move to an open room in another of our homes, at that room’s current market rent. Your lease has the official details.

Frequently asked questions

Is Amsoo Properties legit?

Yes. Amsoo Properties is run by brothers Ali and Muizz Soomar, who have rented private rooms in shared homes in Austin and Manor since 2020 and housed more than 50 residents. You deal with the owners directly, and every resident is screened with a background check, credit check, and income verification.

What do residents say about Amsoo Properties?

In move-out feedback, 16 of 17 residents said they would recommend us to friends. The most common comments were fast repairs, fair rent, spacious homes, and the included cleaning and lawn care.

What happens if I don’t get along with a housemate?

Housemates usually work things out themselves, since we don’t micromanage households. If something isn’t getting resolved, tell us and we’ll step in to make sure everyone is being considerate. Residents on a lease of 6 months or longer can also ask about moving to an open room in another of our homes at that room’s current rent; your lease has the official terms.

Are these reviews real?

Yes. These are real residents of our homes, in their own words. Most come from the feedback form residents fill out when they move out, and some were shared with us by current residents. We quote them word for word (shortened with “…” where noted) using first names and last initials only.
